License and Credential Committee

The License and Credential Committee is one of the oldest

institutions in the church. It processes applications for

qualified persons, who are desirous of serving as credential

ministers, and accepts recommendations from ministers for

appointments to the Ministry.

Credential ministers are appointed to vacant posts only after they have fulfilled various professional, pastoral, social and church obligations and received favourable reviews from the Executive Board.

Members of the church may be appointed ministers pursuant to a series of procedures, which start with an assessment of the candidates stewardship by the local pastor and end with induction in the office in question, in General Convention by the Executive Board.
